The Hissyfits

Brooklyn’s pop-punk band The Hissyfits don’t quit -- or at least lead singer-guitarist Holly Jacobs (a.k.a. Princess) won’t. Unwilling to let the band fall apart after her two bandmates called it a career and went back to school (after one full-length and a thorough country-wide tour), Princess dug up a whole new group of like-minded rockers to put around her. Reformed as a foursome (with a viola player?!), The Hissyfits are once again providing their trademark three-part harmonies -- giving you ample opportunity to find the lyrical jump-in point that is right for you and sing along. Opening for The Hissyfits at their Ladyfest benefit this weekend will be a couple of young Philadelphian lady-led bands. Satan’s Riff Raff are a sharp, tireless AC/DC cover band that seems to know all the songs. And the new band from ex-Smudging Eyeliners Julia Gaylord and Allison Harris, the X’s X’s, makes crazy, jangly rock music and seems to be having a blast the whole time.
