Dear Lady: No cat wants to be caged like an animal.

Dear Papa: I just moved in with some friends, whom I adore, but I found out after I moved in that one of them has an allergy to my cat. What’s a fair way to allow the cat and the human to share the space respectfully? The poor girl (the cat) has been locked in my room for two days at this point and she is going a little crazy. —A Cat Lady

Dear Lady: No cat wants to be caged like an animal. Your pussy deserves to be free to sit in your lap while you have a cup of coffee or to step on your papers as you try to write, or to beg for just a teeny tiny bit of tuna when you are making your lunch. This is what cats like. I hear that if you wash a cat in a bathtub twice a week it rids the cat of the dander that is making your roommate sick, but if you have ever washed a cat you would know that it is easier to rid yourself of the roommate.

Dear Papa: How can I ask a friend’s sister out? I think there’s something there, but I don’t want to make it weird or uncomfortable for him. And what if it doesn’t work out? Won’t he be angry with me? —Dude on Delancey

Dear Dude: Is your friend dating his sister? If he is not, then he should not have too strong a feeling about you taking her out for a drink or to a fight, or maybe to go dancing. If his sister dates men, better it be a man that he knows, instead of a stranger, though it really does not matter at all. It will likely end poorly. All romances end poorly.
