Art Bites: Ken Lum in the Whitney Biennial
Look familiar?

Why are we talking about the Whitney Biennial on a food blog? Well, it opens on March 7th and Philadelphia artists are well represented to say the least, namely Ken Lum. Lum is a Canadian born artist currently residing in South Philly. He teaches at University of Pennsylvania's School of Design and his contribution to the Biennial is very close to home.
For the Biennial Lum replicated the signage from New World Plaza, the Vietnamese strip mall located at the corner of 6th and Washington. But instead of advertising for Saigon Maxim restaurant, Pho Ha and 1st Oriental Market, Lum has swapped out names for Vietnam War references. Samantha Melamed has more info about other local biennial participants over at Philly.com.
