Scrapple and punch for bunch? YES!

Brunch Watch: Osteria Jersey and Punch Brunch

Well, the week is winding down and that means it's time to start thinking about happy hour, er, brunch plans! Here are two new options for your weekend day drinking consideration:

The newly opened outpost of Osteria (400 Rt 38) at the Moorestown Mall debuted brunch last weekend and we've got to say that the menu is looking pretty damned good. Good enough to drive to Jersey even. Along with Italian-accented brunch cocktails, Osteria has rolled out a menu of breakfasty dishes like carbonara pizza, fettuccine with prosciutto and eggs and a scrapple rotolo with maple syrup and poached eggs. They're going to be serving Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A little bit closer to home, Square 1682 (121 S. 17th St.) is premiering a brunch prix fixe that we can really get behind. For $100 Square is offering brunch for four with four coffees, four brunch entrees and a bowl of punch for the table, because really, who wants a middling mimosa when you can have punch. On the punch menu crafted by head bartender Chauncey Scates, are day drinking perfect concoctions like Penny Arcade Punch, a blend of gin, black tea, grapefruit juice and coconut sugar and Tumbling Dice Punch with brandy, cognac and chai.
