Change Ups: Jake's Sandwich Board and Chhaya Cafe

Big changes coming for two neighborhood favorites.

First up Jake's Sandwich Board (112 S. 12th St.), the Midtown Village go-to for serious sandwich action is shutting it's doors in preparation for a dining room and menu overhaul. In addition to sprucing up the joint they're adding a few large format plates available after 5 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, August 12th. Roast pork, pork and brisket are going to be served in cast iron skillets with sliced bread, toppings and dipping sauces for parities of 2 to 10 people. To celebrate all the new happenings Jake's is offering up $3 sandwiches served with a complimentary Sly Fox Route 113 IPA.

A bit further south Chhaya, the tranquil cafe EPX cafe has closed in preparation for a move into new digs a few doors north at 1817-1819 East Passyunk Avenue. They're reopening in an new space with nearly double the seating capacity on Thursday, August 21st. Be on the lookout for the same relaxed, laptop friendly vibes plus a few seasonal menu additions as well as the introduction of the Chhaya Citywide, that'd be a pour over and a shot of espresso for $4.
