And to catch them live is a treat.
Touring behind their 2014 record Fortune, the six-piece occupied nearly every inch of the stage while their sounds echoed throughout the Angel’s corridor. They certainly were enjoying the night and the decent sized crowd, as was evidenced by the frequent banter of lap steel/guitar maestro Chris Funk. The sweet edges of folk were featured, like in the infectious harmonies of “Nowhere, Massachusetts.” And the instrumental fun of bluegrass popped up as well, via accordion, stand-up bass and Annalisa Tornfelt’s specialty, the phonofiddle.
Kristin Andreassen opened with her own idiosyncratic take on folk.
