Concert Review/Photos: Har Mar Superstar @ The Boot & Saddle
When you hear "sex symbol," what comes to mind?

[ 7/16 ] When you hear “sex symbol,” what comes to mind? Some blonde, busty, beautiful woman?
There is only one person I think of: Har Mar Superstar. The super sold-out crowd at the Boot & Saddle came ready to dance, laugh and see how little clothing he would be wearing by the end of the night.
Har Mar Superstar (alias Sean Tillman) took the stage in his Native-inspired draped hood wrap, supported by his two-piece backing band. In comparison to years past, he has definitely toned down his antics, but he’s still wildly entertaining. The greater part of the set list crew from his latest release, Bye Bye 17, including “Restless Leg” and “www.” Fans sang along. He ate it up. It wasn’t long before the first outfit change, and a sequin-studded mumu appeared. As the venue got warmer, more layers came off, and Har Mar rocked his Golden Girls-esque gold and black sweater. By the end he was the shirtless man we all know and love.
Har Mar constantly commanded the crowd to dance harder and yell louder. Everyone quickly obliged, especially the guy who kept yelling something about pants (I think he missed the days when Har Mar got down to his underwear). Between admiring his wardrobe choices and dance moves, you realize just how strong Har Mar’s vocals are. It’s no wonder ladies were googly-eyed over him; his voice swoons in R&B soul that can make any person melt. Oh, and that awkward, scissor-leg sideways headstand? It happened, and was amazing as usual.
After a song with his band during the encore, we were left with a solo Har Mar and the powerful closer, “Lady, You Shot Me.”
