Six rap luminaries (back) on top of their game.

After making a return at last year’s Coachella — their first show together since breaking up in 2007 — Jurassic 5 seems to have made it official by teaming up with Dilated Peoples for the “Word Of Mouth Reunion Tour.” Before a diverse crowd of young and old, the rap pioneers' set felt like a journey through their history, with tracks stemming from 1998’s self-titled EP, including "Jayouy," — to other hits including "Quality Control" and "Concrete Schoolyard."

Throughout the night, Jurassic 5 interacted with the crowd, giving everybody in the first few rows a handshake and a smiles. Later in their set they asked for requests. The night ended with arguably one of their biggest hits, "What’s Golden."

The highlight of the night: the turntable set between DJs, Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist, using a variety of sample pads and gadgets, and even a turntable guitar. Jurassic 5 proved you don’t need swear words and exuberant stage displays to produce a highly entertaining rap show these days; it was purely six rap luminaries (back) on top of their game.

Dilated Peoples opened the show, displaying lots of energy while proving their Philly love – even bringing a fan onstage to rap alongside.
