[ 7/19 ] The tried-and-true First Unitarian Church served up quite the spectacle compete with grime, bloody knuckles and riotous war cries. This Saturday, hardcore old heads Ceremony, hailing from Rohnert Park, CA, headlined the bill, supported by Philly shoegaze boys Nothing, Seattle’s powerviolence two-piece act Iron Lung and openers Anxiety Hammer and Bad Side. While hardcore vets and novices unified in the sauna-like basement throughout all the performances, the audience during Ceremony’s set were entranced by singles like “He-god-Has Favored Our Undertakings” and “Don’t Touch Me” (my personal favorite), the transformation of attendee to punch-throwing minion was undeniable.
