[ 6/20 ] The WFC was filled to the max Saturday night for The Black Keys’ “Turn Blue” tour, and nobody stayed in their seats. We danced and sang along throughout the night as the band tore through an assortment of hits from their eight-album collection. By the end, the arena was illuminated by cell phone lights (because who uses lighters anymore?) as fans cheered to get the guys back on stage. The Black Keys obliged, ending the night with a three-song encore.
Also impressive was opening act Cage the Elephant. Singer Matt Shultz appeared to blow everyone’s mind between his Mick Jagger-inspired hip gyrations and multiple crowd surfing spectacles. It was also a special night for the newly-joined guitarist, Nick Bockrath, who made his hometown debut with the band.
