Dr. Dog splashed color and catchy hooks all over the Electric Factory stage last Friday night, reminding us why it’s a great time to be a music fan in Philadelphia. Lititz-based teenagers The Districts threatened to steal the show with their energetic opening set, but their role models Dr. Dog rose to the occasion and demonstrated why they’ve successfully made the leap from local band to nationally touring act.

[ 1/31 ] Dr. Dog splashed color and catchy hooks all over the Electric Factory stage last Friday night, reminding us why it’s a great time to be a music fan in Philadelphia. Fans bobbed the pom-poms on their ’80s-style DD hats in the front row, while several in the middle made attempts to crowd surf, inspiring singer Toby Leaman to jump out and do the same. The stage was bathed in beautiful rainbow-colored lights that matched Eric Slick’s drums and glinted off the three singers’ gold microphones. Disco balls spun above. The show was a soul revival that somehow felt shiny and new.
