They've fully embraced their status as arena rockers.

[ 2/19 ] Kings of Leon have fully embraced their status as arena rockers. This was clear on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center, as they started their set silhouetted behind a huge white curtain and ended it with a multicolored laser show. In between, silver glitter fell like snow through white lights and a video screen behind the stage alternated between close-ups of the band and cinematic images of galloping horses and blooming orchids.
The crowd was sparse for opener Gary Clark Jr.’s set, but filled in nicely right before KOL took the stage. The show wasn’t big on personalized touches — a drawback of many arena shows. But lead singer Caleb Followill did say that he knew the fans would be great here, that they always are. They certainly were appreciative of the band playing the hits, as all great arena bands do.
Long-time fans may miss the southern blues-rock of the band’s first few albums, but at least everyone enjoyed themselves, and it’s good to see Kings of Leon finally getting the attention they deserve in the U.S. of A.
