For 13 weeks this summer, beginning today, five Philly museums (the PMA, the Barnes, Penn Museum, PAFA, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society) will share a photo of an object from their respective art collections which connect to each week's theme. This "Summer With Art" series, a project of With Art Philadelphia (a collaboration with Visit Philadelphia), will offer themes including: "School's Out," "Under the Sun," "The Art of Food," and "Down the Shore."

It'll be interesting to see how the museums interpret those themes through the pieces in their collections and how users of the #SummerWithArt hashtag on Instagram and Twitter show off what they saw when they visited this season (especially with how slow summer can be for touristy things around here). It's a cool way to promote Philly art through social media, which is almost imperative at this point.

The series runs through Friday, Sept. 19. The header image is from the Penn Museum, of its silver coin depicting Alexander the Great in its Greece Gallery.
