Great Sandwiches: Introducing Scott Schroeder

Editor's Note: In the days leading up to our inaugural GREAT SANDWICHES EVENT happening on May 28th (get your tickets HERE!)we're going to be introducing the sandwich-centric heavy hitters taking part in this totally awesome celebration of sandwiches. Today we've got a chef who doesn't really need an introdction, people's champ/sandwich artist, Scott Schroeder of American Sardine Bar and South Philly Tap Room

Favorite sandwich: George’s (900 S. 9th St.) tripe and bbq veal combo with a long hot and mustard. I try to never eat this for health reasons.

Least Favorite sandwich: The one’s Eli Kulp and Brad Spence make.

Most memorable sandwich experience: We took two John’s Roast Porks (14 Snyder Ave.) with sharp and greens as lunch on a road trip to Montreal. They sat wrapped up in the backseat for like 6 hours, right in the zone the Health Department calls the “danger zone”. Our minds were blown they were so good. I always act like I’m going to reinact it but its almost impossible to wait that long to eat a sandwich.

Best Philadelphia sandwich: Oh god! One?!?! In The Catagory of PHILADELPHIA sandwich mean from here and classic, The Schmitter and not the the one at the ballpark, the one you get at the bar at McNally's (8634 Germantown Ave.).

Deal breaker: Vegan/vegetarian meats and even as a vegan, I totes fux with vegan and vegetarian sandwiches.
