Hello Again: Cafe Chau Resurfaces in Jersey
If you never got to eat at Cafe Chau, a tiny Vietnamese joint on 7th and Jackson, I feel for you.

If you never got to eat at Cafe Chau, a tiny Vietnamese joint on 7th and Jackson, I feel for you.
I remember when I first heard about the place from our then-food editor, Drew Lazor, who had heard about it from phoficionado and hole-in-the-wall champion, Scott Schroeder. I wrote the cafe up in one of our sidebar reviews - you can read it here; don't ask me why the screwy CP archives have paired it with a picture of Peter Woolsey - and I was excited to work it into my regular rotation. Then they closed.
Props to Schroeder, who's got the eagle eye again with news that Cafe Chau has reopened in Pennsuaken, New Jersey, a just over-the-bridge burg best known for its Weber's drive-in. They've got a Facebook page and a website that places opening day just about a month ago.
With Zeppoli, Osteria (noted in this week's NFTW), Weber's and now Chau, you've now got four good reasons to go to Jersey. Get gas while you're there.
