A new Kickstarter film campaign could bring Oscar nominee Eric Roberts to a theater (or least a town) near you!

Hoop Dreams

Speaking of celebrities with secretly prolific and sometimes kickstarter-funded film careers, Eric Roberts could be coming to town to film a new film...but he needs our help!...I guess. Written by South Jersey native/actress/acting coach Lisa Regina, the film is called Shooters Nail. According to the movie's Kickstarter page, the screenplay revolves around "A high school basketball coach who is struggling to forgive his brother, mentors a bullied teen, learns to forgive, and falls in love." And also, professional wheelchair basketball. Here's what you need to know:

1. If you aren't already familiar with Eric Roberts, he's Julia Roberts' older brother, Emma Roberts' father and kinda-sorta a film star in his own right. True, he may have peaked almost 30 years ago when he played an escaped prisoner in Runaway Train, but like many other actors who seem to have fallen off the face of the Earth, Eric Roberts has quite a busy schedule to keep him on the silver screen (or the straight-to-the-small-screen); In fact, we can look forward to over 55, this year alone. And also he won a Lifetime Achievement award from the Hoboken International Film Festival. So...that's pretty cool.

2. Here are some things you can get out of the deal:  $5- A special thanks on their Facebook page. $25 a PDF copy of the screenplay. And for just $10,000 you could get an executive producer credit in the movie! I skipped ahead a bit there; There are plenty of options between $25 and $10,000 (like getting to shadow a film crew member during production).

3. Cathy Moriarty is also in it. If the name doesn't ring a bell, the face probably does in a "ohhh wait I totally know her, what the hell is she from again?" way. Some might know her from 1980's Raging Bull, while others (like me) know her as "that bitchy lady" from Casper and But I'm a Cheerleader.

4. You have until April 5 to get in on this prime investment and learn what it really means to Forgive.Play.[and]Win.
