Saturday is blissfully not so sweaty.
Greetings from the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, De., where everyone is sweaty and the cell service is crap. I've been been doing social media updates throughout, but finally found some reliable 4G for more than five minutes. So far, I've noticed a lot of bands doing really great covers, like:
-Last night, the Foo Fighters predictably crushed their set, which ran about 2 hours and had Dave Grohl waxing poetic about the Foo's 20-some years together. Their guitar player also played sitting down because his ankle was broken, and Dave burped really loudly into the mic during "Monkey Wrench" and no one is sure if he meant to. After the main set, they came back on for a 5-song encore as "The Holy Shits," which Dave called a bar band playing classic rock. They opened with Alice Cooper's "School's Out for Summer."
-Portugal, the Man played "Dayman" from "It's Always Sunny on Philadelphia." Magical.
-Amos Lee played the "Game of Thrones" theme song and everyone lost their minds. Almost as much as when they played Beyonce's "Single Ladies."
-Local Natives played an unreleased Johnny Cash tune called "Among the Stars."
-Airborne Toxic Event lamented the U.S. Justice system for marijuana convictions, said that "even the cops are smoking weed," and then played "I Fought the Law."
Much, much more to come throughout and after the weekend. Your best bet is to follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
