Local illustrator Michele Melcher is hoping to elevate your dull profile pic to something more sophisticated with her Kickstarter, The Unselfie Project. Or, in her words:
The Unselfie Project was created to bring back the art of the portrait and to replace as many lame avatar selfies as possible.
It's a noble goal, and last we checked, 77 people have backed her. With the $4,500 she's attempting to raise, Melcher plans to create at least 150 of these portraits, which would eventually be featured in an online gallery.
Beyond the standard color or black and white, illustrated portraits can be zombified, lumberjacked, stached or vampirified upon request. If Melcher surpasses her goal, she says she'll add other enhancement choices (think death metal rocker or elf).
