Notes from the Weekend: March 18
Dueling Mexican and brunch on this week's NFTW.

Notes from the Weekend is a feature that sees the members of Team Meal Ticket compiling all the food/drink highlights uncovered during prime eatin' time, Friday to Sunday. Adam took the weekend off so it's just caroline chiming in this week. We'd love to hear all about YOUR weekend eating adventures in the comments. Go for it! Friday I met up with C and her coworkers for some happy hour action at El Camino in Northern Liberties. Haven't eaten there in forever; the tuna tacos heaped with bitter, astringent slaw and creamed with cilantro-lime aioli reminded me why, and further enforced my notion that friends and family should just defer all restaurant selection to yours truly.—AE
Started out Friday at a.bar with a glass of cremant before heading over to Le Cheri for a bottle of savoie some little cream cheese ravioli and onion soup. The plan was to grab a martini at the awesomely retro bar at the Westin, unfortunately fireplaces and dark wood vibes had been revamped a few weeks prior. The new decor is pretty heartbreaking but the martini was still solid.—CR
Saturday morning, I caught a nice breakfast at the counter at the Avenue Deli in Lansdowne. These fluffy scrambled huevos were positively webbed in provolone, centerpiece of the Eggs How You Like 'Em, which also comes with toast and Avenue's crispy, ottoman-shaped latkes. I resolved to eat only the latkes. Didn't work.—AE
Grabbed a quick late Saturday lunch at Cantina (pineapple marg and chicken quesadilla) before heading over to American Sardine Bar for a few pints of Sardine Ale.—CR
Wanted to keep things light on Sunday, so I put on a big pot of chicken stock with Wyebrook birds. That became chicken broth, which became chicken soup once I added the skinned, shredded meat, peas, corn, Tuscan kale and lots of ground dried shisito pepper from the garden.—AE
Headed up to Alla Spina for Sunday brunch with friends from out of town. Just saying that every brunch should start with a panettini (amaretto, cynar and orange juice) and end with orange-fennel doughnuts and a house-made choco taco. Ended up spending the rest of the afternoon on the couch only get up again to pick up some takeout from David's Mai Lai Wah because those dumplings. Really.—CR
