Notes from the Weekend: March 31
Tristate area eats and unfortunately named restaurants on this week's NFTW.

Notes from the Weekend is a feature that sees the members of Team Meal Ticket compiling all the food/drink highlights uncovered during prime eatin' time, Friday to Sunday. Adam took the weekend off so it's just caroline chiming in this week. We'd love to hear all about YOUR weekend eating adventures in the comments. Go for it! Earlier in the week I read this listicle about TGI Fridays and ever since then, well, all I could think about was potato skins. So after an extended happy hour at South Philly Tap Room I headed up to the City Line Avenue Fridays which was packed with a wait well after midnight. Short story - the potato skins weren't that great and my cherry limeade cocktail was totally gross but TGI Fridays is still kind of hilarious and the service was shockingly good.—CR
Breezy's Cafe is quick becoming a classic for nuevo Point Breeze, but I'd only ever had their food second-hand, picked-up by somebody else. Friday I actually got to see the place, and it's awful cute, all turquoise and windowy. Really enjoyed their proper meatball sandwich and this salted caramel milkshake made with Trickling Springs Creamery ice cream. Monopoly board position by yours truly.—AE
On Saturday afternoon I had a date at Dock Street to taste their newly released Walking Dead-inspired beer. For being brewed with sinister-sounding smoked goat brains, the beer was remarkably easy drinking, food friendly and not one bit brainy. Later that evening there were blue cocktails at The Blue Parrot, a New Orleans-themed restaurant in Wilmington followed by a the dubiously named Latin Fusion restaurant. Probably should have trusted my initial reaction and avoided this place all together. Of course a couple of rounds at The Dolphin washed away the weirdness of dinner.—CR
Sunday, headed over to Jersey for brunch at Osteria in Moorestown. I've been there four times now, and Vetri's suburban venture has progressed from an incredibly wonky start to a confident addition to his portfolio--not to mention the second best place to eat in South Jersey, after Zeppoli of course. If you get there for brunch, do not miss the eggs in purgatory, carbonara pizza or focaccia French toast. Do miss the Bellinis, made the cheapskate way (I suspect) with peach schnapps. Guess they got lost on their way to Adelphia.—AE
Chili was on the menu Sunday morning, namely judging the Fishtown Chili Cook Off. Nine chilis and a beer later, Cedar Point Kitchen and Bar was the winner although I was rooting for the (again) unfortunately named Mobile Awesome truck. Back at home I spent a few hours decompressing from chili judging before dinner at a.kitchen. The new menu is killer, namely the grilled quail eggs, bread board, duck with xo sauce and chocolate mousse with spearmint and juniper. And pretty much everything else, too. While I was there Ellen Yin informed me that lunch service is starting tomorrow which is fantastic news given their proximity to Meal Ticket HQ.—CR
