Tonight!

Openings: Abe Fisher

Danya Henninger

Opening it's doors at 5 p.m. this evening, the latest from Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook, Abe Fisher (1623 Sansom St.) is taking on the cuisine of the Jewish diaspora and that means that the kitchen has plenty of globe-spanning inspiration to play with.

The menu is made up of small plates (meat, fish and vegetables) and large format sharable meals for the table. Eastern European classics like borscht gets a redux with beet tartare with trout roe, sour cream and onion potato chips. Schnitzel is coming in taco form with health salad and anchovy mayo and Montreal smoked meat is getting a new look with whole short served with rye bread and deli-centric garnishes. There's also a prix fixe option for $39 a person that includes a plate from each category, dessert and an individual preztel-challah-babka to start.

Oh and over at the bar a classic Boulevardier gets a high holiday nod with a splash of Manischewitz and the house cocktail is a take on a classic gin martini finished off with a kosher dill pickle spear.
