Barrel-aged whiskey and big old steaks.

Openings: Bank & Bourbon

Bank & Bourbon (1200 Market St.), the new brown spirits-centric restaurant in the Loews Hotel opened its doors earlier this week and if you're a whiskey and steak kinda guy or lady, well, this is the place for you. The swanky new dining room and bar is a big improvement on the last restaurant in the space, the unfortunately named Solefood, a seafood concept.

Bank & Bourbon is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week with pretty standard hotel fare during the day (think fruit salad, eggs benedict, ham and cheese sandwiches and steak salads) but things get a little more serious at dinner with 32 ounce dry-aged cowboy steaks, Duroc pork chops and pastrami short ribs.

Of course, the real draw here is the bar where they're pouring a selection of house-aged whisk, scotch and rye and offering a locker membership where whiskey enthusiasts can purchase their very own charred American oak barrels for aging spirits.
