"A convergence of hunting lodge and American-style greasy spoon..."

Beast & Ale is taking over the former Bisou space in Manayunk.

Chef Tim Spinner and Brian Sirhal have built a tight little empire of Mexican spots in and around the city over the past few years with La Calaca Feliz, Cantina Feliz and Taqueria Feliz. For their newest endeavor, Beast & Ale (4161 Main St., Manayunk), the pair is traveling north of the border with an "upscale greasy spoon" (that's straight from the press release, folks) slated to open in mid-June.

They're tasting a taxidermy-heavy interior "that's a convergence of hunting lodge and American-style greasy spoon" plus an outdoor deck and bar focusing on craft drafts, cocktails and new and old world wines by the glass. The press release is also teasing something they're calling a "pre-World War II burger." Matthew Savastano, a former sous chef at La Calaca Feliz is going to be heading up the kitchen.
