Solid new burger option in Market East.

Openings: BurgerFi

The first Philadelphia outpost of BurgerFi opened today at the corner of 12th and Arch. We stopped by last night for a preview and with a menu of burgers, dogs, fries and frozen custard plus beer and wine, there are some pretty striking Shake Shack similarities happening.

But real talk - how's the burger? We went with an All The Way Burger off of the not-all-that-secret secret menu and we've got to say it was damned good. The burger begins with a squishy bun branded long-horn style with the chain's logo. The fast food-style beef patty is billed as all-natural and free-range, cooked to a solid, juicy medium and topped with a generous slice of yellow American. Slices of tomato and pickle finished off the burger along with a few oversized leaves of iceberg, a generous handful of large diced onions and an almost indiscernible squirt of BurgerFi sauce. Plus the red velvet custard (with rainbow sprinkles!) was kind of great.

Verdict? With the Walnut Street location of Five Guys shuttering a few months back and no Shake Shacks east of Broad, BurgerFi is your best bet for a fast food style burger in Market East.
