Openings: More intel on The Strip Joint
So, what's a value-driven steakhouse?
Remember back on Monday when we told you that SoWe (918 S 22nd St.) was closing its doors to make way for an affordable steak dinner spot? Well, today we got our hands on some more intel about The Strip Joint, Graduate Hospital's first "value-driven steakhouse."
Opening to the public on Sunday, The Strip Joint is going to be offering up "complete dinners for $19 or less" made up of a house salad, choice of steak including New York strip, filet mignon or the Steak Maison (anyone out there familiar with this mystery cut?) and a side of hand-cut frites. A selection of six sauces will be available as well as $8 apps like meatballs and steak tartare, $6 sides - think creamed kale and spinach and garlic toast plus $8 desserts and a wine list featuring ten bottles for less than $30. So a steak dinner for two and a bottle of wine will run you somewhere around $67 plus tip, not bad considering that the usually steakhouse tab for two hovers around the $150 to $200 mark.
