Philadelphia's favorite Delaware River outdoor eating and drinking destination is officially opening its doors on Thursday, May 1st.

Openings: Morgan's Pier

The past week's super nice weather has brought up one question over and over again: When is Morgan's Pier (221 N. Columbus Blvd.) reopening? The official date for Philadelphia's favorite Delaware River outdoor eating and drinking destination is officially opening its doors on Thursday, May 1st.

So, what's on the menu for Morgan's Pier's third season? Aside from the Watermelon Rickys that we all know and dearly love, David Gilberg, the former chef of Fishtown's dearly departed Portuguese BYO KoozeDoo the kitchen is going to be heading up the kitchen. He's going to be focusing on outdoor-focused fare - think backyard barbecue, boardwalk eats and picnic basket fillers. Gilberg and crew are planning on rolling out charcoal grills and cooking al fresco every once in a while throughout the season. No word yet on the full menu but there will definitely be lobster rolls, crab cakes and piri piri chicken.

Other summer at the Pier events to look forward to include guest chef pop ups (clambakes! tike nights!), an expanded list of summery wines via Morgan's Pier sommelier Ben Robling plus free concerts courtesy of R5 Productions and a solid lineup of DJs via David Pianka of Making Time.
