Openings: Zavino Chestnut Square
More seating, expanded menu and 35 wines by the glass!

Midtown Village Neapolitan pizzeria Zavino is opening doors to its second location tomorrow afternoon at 4:30. Located at 3200 Chestnut Street. The newest Zavino is roomier than the 13th Street spot with seating for 65 inside and an additional 40 to 50 spots outside once the weather warms up.
In addition to a dining room with more elbow room this location has a kitchen that's substantially larger making for an opportunity to expand the menu. Classic Zavino pies like the pistachio pesto-topped 'stache and margherita are joined by a rock shrimp pizza with red pepper salsa. Pastas now include a house-made tonarelli with truffled pecorino and cracked black pepper and there's going to be a ricotta of the day on the small plates menu as well as a warm wild mushroom and fava bean salad.
Pizza nerds should know that they've installed two shiny new Wood Stone ovens that are firing at between 750 and 850 degrees to get that awesome char on the crust.
Behind the substantial bar there are 35 wines by the glass with bottles hovering in the cozy $35 mark. And although Zavino decided to forgo a draft system they've got 15 bottles on offer ranging from $3 to $6 plus a handful of large format bottles for sharing.
As of tomorrow Zavino is going to be serving dinner from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and staying open until midnight on weekends. They'll be rolling out an all day menu a la 13th Street in a few weeks.
