PSA: There is no Bane impression contest, please stop calling this poor guy

Sonia Petruse

Hee, someone tweeted us a photo of the above flyer advertising a Bane impression contest found in Fairmount.

It's April 1, so it's obviously a prank, not a real Bane impression contest. But we were curious, so we called the number to see if someone would answer. And someone did! The owner of this number is named Andrew, and this is a prank being pulled on him by a friend.

"I just found out about 15 minutes ago," Andrew says. "People started calling a couple hours ago. I've had people texting me because I don't even have a voicemail set up — 'How the hell do you have a contest if you don't even have a voicemail?'"

So no Bane voicemail messages, unfortunately. Andrew's not even getting what would be the fun part of this prank; all he's getting is random people calling his number who are then confused when a real person answers the phone. He got about seven calls before figuring out what the hell people were talking about. He says he's managed to find and take down 10 flyers so far.

A message from Andrew: "Please stop calling! It's an April Fool's joke! There is no $100 prize!"

Since we really do now want to hear some Bane impressions, and you probably did too if you clicked on this, here you go:
