When we last talked to first-time filmmaker and Old City historic tour guide Amy Frear on the phone on Feb. 7, her film Another Time had garnered $2,810 in donations on Kickstarter. The project got the attention of local media and film lovers alike, who took interest in the movie's focus on local history, time travel and 20-something disillusionment.
By the moring of Feb. 21 (the Kickstarter stays open until 11:59 tonight), Another Time had hit its $5,000 goal. By today at noon, it had raised $5,636.
With those extra funds, Frear said she's made some decisions about how to enhance the film. Frear said via email Tuesday that new casting decisions include:
-Davy Raphaely (who recently starred in 4000 Miles at Philadelphia Theater Company)
-Elena Bossler (currently on stage at the Walnut Street Theatre with Beautiful Boy)
-Natasha Meineck (who just finished filming the local indie film Ardmore Junction)
-John Lopes, who joins the cast as a George Washington reenactor
-Christina Gesualdi of Mascher Space Co-op, who will appear and choreograph an experimental dance piece for a character in the film.
"I've found the script has been growing a lot because of the support I've been receiving from the community. People seem to really be excited both about the historical and contemporary aspects of the story," Frear said.
The crew will film around Fishtown and Old City the first two weekends of April. Learn more about the cast here and the film here.
