Pop Ups: The SALO Project

Our pals at Eater caught word of The SALO Project, a very exciting pop up happening on April 27th and given the dearth of Filipino food in our city (minus the Jeepney Grill, of course), this is a can't miss.

Here's the deal: SALO Project founder Yana Gilbuena started out with a series of banana leaf-heavy pop ups in Brooklyn and now she's traveling the country, hoping to bring her family-style Filipino fare to every state in the union over the course of 50 weeks. The pop sup series is being filmed for a documentary and a portion of profits from the event are going to typhoon relief. Tickets are going for $50 (get 'em here) and the dinner is BYO, taking place in a undisclosed location. The menu includes intriguing Filipino dishes like sotanghon guisado (stir fried rice noodles), a few surprises from the chef plus leftovers to take home.
