Weekend Plans: Beef and Beer at South Philly Tap Room
Sure there's beef and beer but there's so much more...

The South Philly Taproom (1509 Mifflin St.) is bringing back their annual Beef and Beer bacchanal this Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are going for $75 a head and get you unlimited access to five firkins - Dogfish Head 75 Minute, Founders Porter, PBC Shackamaximum, Sly Fox Odyssey and Troegs Nugget Nectar plus all you can eat beef.
Well, when we say beef, that's kind of an understatement. Sure there's dry-aged Creekstone New York strip served with homemade steak sauce, horseradish cream, fresh horseradish and bbef jus but that's not even a little bit of what SPTR chef Scott Schroeder (who may or may not break out his toque for the occasion) is planning for Sunday. The meal is kicking off with steak tartare with hardboiled eggs on toast points, thick cut bacon inspired by classic Brooklyn steakhouse, Peter Luger and an anchovy-studded Caesar. Sides are coming in the form of cheddar, chive and sour cream twice-baked potatoes, lobster creamed spinach and chocolate mousse with butterscotch whipped cream and a pistachio cookie for dessert. Oh, and there hot dogs, because, well, hot dogs?
Presale tickets are available at the Tap Room or by calling 215-271-7787 or if you want to chance it there are going to be a limited number of spots available day of.
