So much beer drinking.

Weekend Plans: Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest means that this weekend is all about beer drinking and all things pork. Here's a look at some of the Oktoberfest happenings around town:

It's not really all that much of a shocker that Oktoberfest is Brauhaus Schmitz's (718 South St.) biggest day of the year, this Saturday, Sept. 20. Chef Jeremy Nolan and his crew start early (like 5 a.m. early) roasting whole pigs for this all-day, outdoor fest. Party starts at 12 p.m. with an oom-pa band, dancing and 10 Oktoberfest beers on tap.

Frankford Hall (1210 Frankford Ave.) is closing down Frankford Avenue from Girard Avenue to Shackamaxon Street for a ceremonial keg tapping, and neighboring Fette Sau (1208 Frankford Ave.) is joining in on the street fest fun with cans of Oktoberfest beer from Sly Fox and Narragansett and serving up snacks like smoked chicken wings and sloppy joes. Frankford Hall will celebrate Oktoberfest with beer specials and more on select dates through Oct. 2.

There are still a few more days to enjoy the Delaware River views at Morgan's Pier (221 N. Columbus Blvd.) this season. On Saturday, they're having an autumn beer tap takeover, grilling sausages and firing up fire pits to ensure cozy Oktoberfest vibes.

Alla Spina's (1410 Mount Vernon St.) getting in on the Oktoberfest action with German food specials all day long plus a Victory tap takeover.
