Emily gets so many invites to interesting stuff on Facebook that it seems like a waste not to share the wealth. If you've already combed our new and improved events listings and still can't find anything that strikes your fancy, check here every afternoon for a few bonus things going on that night. If you didn't already get tickets to the Pizza Macauley Culkin thing (it does look fun, but, Philly, can we be a little cooler in the presence of every celebrity who comes to town?) it is way sold out. I'd guess there'll be some no-shows now that it's snowing again, though.
2-6 p.m. — Pop-up food court at the Dreaming Building.
January 25th, American Dreaming Magazine will present their first Pop Up Food Court of the New Year from 2-6pm at The Dreaming Building located at 618 N. Front Street in Philadelphia PA 19123. Some of the best local up-and-coming chefs and food vendors will be in attendance ready for you to come and taste their delicacies. Admission is free and welcome to all members of the family.
Pop-up things like this are usually not my thing, via many bad experiences, and the details are a little vague. However, in the comments:
The Jerk Chicken man will be in the building with 8 different sauces to go with his super good chicken!!!
I once followed the smell of that chicken for, like, at least six blocks, like a drunken bloodhound. If the jerk chicken man who used to cook in a huge setup on Second Street is there, and the people organizing this knew enough to put three exclamation marks on that fact, and I could get that stuff again while it's snowing, I am sold. That shit is like Proust's madelines.
Plus, you can probably use that free ride to Northern Liberties code from last night.
8 p.m. — Premiere of "Confetti" by Philly choreographer Gabrielle Revlock at the Annenberg — we wrote something
A Philadelphia dancer/choreographer with a sly taste for humor and surprise, Gabrielle Revlock is celebrated as "a gifted comedian" (Philadelphia Inquirer) and a "smart and beguiling" (Broad Street Review) artist. In the world premiere of Confetti, she investigates "two-ness" in a series of overlapping duets. Joined by a virtuosic hip hop dancer, a child, her very own mother and more, Revlock relates, reacts and opposes through a series of quirky, interlocking narratives.
