Where you need to go, like, now: Spruce Street Harbor Park
Hammock. Freakin'. Orchard.

This probably doesn't need to be said if you've spent any time with the Instagram photos/tweets/gushing articles of local publications, but the (opened officially today!) Spruce Street Harbor Park is just lovely. It's one giant step closer toward the larger goal of making Philadelphia's riverfront a place people actually want to go to.
With multiple booths selling beer and cocktails, a pop-up Garces restaurant, an urban beach with real sand, a boardwalk, a performance stage area, dozens of hammocks for hanging out, a bocce and suffleboard court, a floating oasis of pretty flowers, neat tree-hanging mood lighting, Art Star's pop-up shop (and others') and a bunch of other sweet amenities, the park makes for a great daytime or nighttime spot. Let's hope it doesn't get overrun with screaming children or douchebags.
It's open to the public every day through Aug. 31 from 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Here are some snapshots from Visit Philly's #whyilovephilly party, which took place at SSHP last night:
