Will the city drain Cedar Park's great lake?
Calling 311 about a frequently flooded danger zone.
Daniel Denvir
Every time it rains, an enormous lake forms at the northwest corner of 48th and Springfield. Deep water consumes a huge swath of street and sidewalk, forcing pedestrians into traffic or well out of their way. I've walked by this mess dozens of times without calling the city, but last night I helped my partner, who is on crutches, navigate the corner. Not fun.
So I finally reported this through Philly's 311 website this evening, and am posting here to encourage others to report to 311 whatever's going wrong on their block.
Feel free to email me (daniel.denvir@citypaper.net) or my colleagues to share your own adventure in urban repair.
Note: This corner by some accounts lies not in Cedar Park but in Squirrel Hill.
