Mark McGuire | A
Along the Way (Dead Oceans) follows a relative lull for the habitually hyper-prolific guitarist/experimentalist (and ex-Emerald) Mark McGuire. Clearly, he took some time with this one. Fans will revel in the meandering, mesmerizing swathes of flittery six-string filigree, but surprises abound, too, including vocals, copious drum machines and overdriven metallic leads approaching Miami Vice levels of synth-cheese.
