Grant Hart

image

Tired of being overshadowed by Bob Mould despite having written many of Hüsker Dü’s best songs ("Terms of Psychic Warfare" for one), Grant Hart exited the band hoping to raise his profile. But releasing five albums in 13 years (including two with the not-great Nova Mob) hasn’t exactly turned Hart into a household name. But if Hart’s still going it alone — he recorded and released Good News For Modern Man (Pachyderm) more or less all by his lonesome — it sure doesn’t sound like it. Good News revels in an elaborate, multilayered sound that evokes everyone from the Beach Boys to Suede. Hart may be a one-man band, but he makes music like an army.
