Mozart: Reloadedclassical
It seems as if everyone in the Philadelphia musical community, and countless others beyond, knows about composer Andrea Clearfield's music salons, which she has conducted at her Center City residences for nearly 20 years. The salons are especially notable for the very high quality of the playing, and a blissful disregard for musical categorization. Clearfield is thus the ideal choice to curate a Kimmel Center Presents concert titled "Mozart: Reloaded," with an assembly of composers, jazz musicians, dancers and sundry other musicians whose names will be familiar to her longtime salonistas. This giant, public salon, celebrating, in her words, both Mozart and the thriving arts scene in Philadelphia, includes boffo jazz pianist Uri Caine, violinist Gloria Justen (channeling the spirits of Mozart and Jimi Hendrix in one piece), Group Motion Dance Company, hot dog new-music pianist Charles Abramovic, a steel drum band led by percussionist Harvey Price and more! Mozart lives!
