The Short Version: Basically, this guy Christian Pedone runs an after-school rock music program at the Academy at Palumbo and needs money to help the students put on shows and buy equipment.

The Long Version:

For the past three years, I’ve been running an extra curricular rock band program at my school, The Academy at Palumbo. Each year, we gather a ragtag bunch of budding musicians to rehearse and perform a full rock concert in the school auditorium. Our program started small but has grown in popularity. This year, we are going to be working with twenty-five students.

This is where you come in. Recent cuts to Philly public school budgets have set off a chain reaction inside schools. Out of necessity, all funding for after school activities must come from fundraisers and the competition between organizations attempting to raise money inside of the school population is fierce. My rock band is in a tough spot. We do not have enough equipment to go around this year, so we’re selling t-shirts with our logo (just like a real rock band). If you can buy a shirt, great. They are pretty sharp. If you’d just like to donate a few bucks, that is great as well. We’re pretty broke. If you’d like to share this post, please do. The money from this sale will go toward strings, drumsticks, amps, straps, guitars and assorted other band related equipment.

Donate $20, get a sweet shirt, help rockers rock. Click here.

(They could also use some equipment, if you have any you're not using.)
