Coffee Break: La Colombe and Mario Batali teaming up

With a killer rum on the market, a glorious Fishtown flagship and cafes in New York, D.C. and Chicago, La Colombe, Philadelphia's premier roaster is continuing it's path to world coffee domination with some pretty big names.

La Colombe's Todd Carmichael has teamed up with super chef Mario Batali to create a line of coffees called Caffé Italiano that are going to be sold nationally at Target stores beginning January 25th. There are three blends in the lineup including a dark roast Abruzzo blend made with beans from Haiti, Brazil and Ethiopia, a medium bodied Roma blend with includes beans from Colombia as well as a decaf Amalfi blend featuring beans from Sumatra and Brazil.
Batali says that the blends were specially created to replicate sitting in an Italian cafe enjoying a cup of coffee or espresso with good friends. This is pretty much the polar opposite of a trip to Target if you ask us but being familiar with La Colombe's always wonderful blends, we're certainly not going to knock it until we've had a chance to try it.
