Concert Review/Photos: B-52s @ Keswick Theatre
Wilson and Pierson's voices harmonized with astounding synchronicity.
The B-52s have been orchestrating other-worldly dance parties since the ’70s, so it’s no surprise that Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson and Fred Schneider led a show full of energetic, smile-inducing sing-alongs. Even though the seating area restricted the party atmosphere, people were replicating dances on the sides and in their seats throughout the 16-song set. And for neophyte B-52s concertgoers like myself, to hear “Private Idaho,” “Love Shack,” “Planet Claire” and “Rock Lobster,” among others live for the first time was a glorious treat.
Wilson and Pierson’s voices harmonized with astounding synchronicity, while Schneider’s contrasting vocals was the secret weapon. As they approach their fourth decade as a band, may they continue to bring their singularly unique aural party to music lovers across the universe.
The French Horn Rebellion opened with their wholly unique brass-infused pop.
