Cathode ray punk kings Television unloaded one musical epiphany after another.

On the last Monday of 2014, cathode ray punk kings Television unloaded one musical epiphany after another to a packed TLA. To hear the chords of “Marquee Moon” live is a truly transcendent experience. And by the time guitar mastermind Tom Verlaine, original drummer Billy Ficca, bassist Fred Smith and guitarist Jimmy Rip got to that moment, at the conclusion of the main set, sonic highs had been reached multiple times. With dark blue lighting as a backdrop, the band seemingly came and went into the shadows much like their hauntingly unique chords. “See No Evil” was as catchy as ever and even after “I’m Gonna Find You” ended the night, the notes of “Moon” and the textures of the performance have not yet left my ears.

Writer Dennis Driscoll opened. With a guitarist accompanying him, he delved into the HD of the 20th century — heroin and defecation.
