Restaurant Week Planner: Pittsburgh Cheesesteak at American Sardine Bar
Who need Restaurant Week when you can have foie gras gravy fries?
Restaurant Week kicks off on Monday and while $35 for three courses sounds like a good idea on paper, this two week promotion is, well, let's just say not the best time to get a stellar restaurant experience. Instead of fighting the crowds for a subpar prix fixe Scott Schroeder of American Sardine Bar (1800 Federal St.) fame is offering up a seriously good looking Restaurant Week alternative.
From January 18th to the 23rd and the 25th through the 30th Schroeder is bringing back is luxury take on the Pittsburgh cheesesteak at American Sardine Bar. 60 day dry aged New York strip from Creekstone Farms is sliced and served with a triple cream truffled brie and grilled trumpet mushroom on a seeded bun. This fancy pants steak is coming with a side of foie gras gravy fries and a pickle salad.
Generally this combo goes for $35 but if you bring in a copy of a cancelled Restaurant Week reservation you can get the Pittsburgh cheesesteak, foie fries and pickles for $25.
