Weekend Plans: Burgers, beer, banh mi and buns
Brought to you by the letter B.

This weekend's plans are coming by way of the letter B. Here's peek at a few tasty new additions to try this weekend:
- The good folks at Cheu Noodle Bar (255 S. 10th St.) are working hard on Bing Bing Dim Sum, their any day now dumpling spot on Passyunk Avenue but they still found time to add a few new menu items at their 10th Street location. Be on the lookout for small plates like charred beets with soft tofu, fresh horseradish, mint and fried oyster buns with ssam sauce, cucumber and cilantro. On the noodle side of things they've got spicy shrimp broth with egg noodles, shrimp balls and onion, Sichuan tofu with hot bean paste, pea leaves and sesame, yakisoba with corizo, mushroom, egg and cilantro and short rib mazeman with tomatillo, green chile and a soft cooked egg. We stopped by last night to try the mazeman and it was killer.
- The owners of dearly departed banh mi spot Cafe Nhu Y have resurfaced with Lee's Cafe and Bistro at 522 Washington Avenue. Passyunk Post is reporting that Lee's is serving up Vietnamese hoagies, pastries, coffee and grab and go fare in some very swanky looking new digs.
- Not that we ever need an excuse to go to Shake Shack but just in case you do, this weekend you can sample a new burger and beer combo. The burger is the Shackmeister, a LaFrieda patty topped with American and Shack Sauce plus an handful of crisp, batter-fried marinated shallots. The beer pairing is coming byway of Victory and it's called Shack Frost, a German style brewed with wheat and barley that packs a serious punch.
