Captain America arrives home in Brooklyn

Brooklyn - A 13-foot bronze statue of Captain America now resides in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The sculpture was designed by a team of artists from the city, including Dave Cortes, a Gowanus-based sculptor who created the 3-D model for the Captain America figure. The statue was created to commemorate the 75th year of Marvel hero Captain America created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

Why is the statue in Brooklyn? As the the Cap has said in the movies as well as the statue plaque reads, "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn" so it is just right that it is now home.

The statue can be found in the Childrens Corner of Prospect Park in front of the carousel.
