Conquering your mountain of holiday shopping.

The 2014 Holiday Gift Guide

Jenni Betz

Think of this edition of our annual Gift Guide as not just a dependable compass in the maelstrom of holiday shopping — think of it also as a test for yourself. The question being: Do you have the right sort of people in your life? If you don’t, you won’t be able to find gifts herein that anyone you know would like.

The wrong type of people wouldn’t like any of this. They wouldn’t like that all the gifts support local businesses, and that many are made in Fishtown, South Philly and West Philly specifically. They wouldn’t like a make-your-own gin kit. Or candles with a cartoon Beyoncé or Leslie Knope painted on the glass. Or a woodcut map of Philadelphia.

The wrong kind of people, the people you should put on your Dunzo List, posthaste, would scoff at what’s on these pages. “Watches made locally from wood?” they’d say. “Unique geometric jewelry? A Bob Ross finger puppet? Astronaut ice cream? I’d rather have a Gap gift card or plain white socks, thanks,” the wrong type of person to know would say.

Give yourself a gift this holiday season and remove such people from your life immediately. Cheers!
