The Week in Eats
Whiskey, bloody marys and farewell cocktails!

Whiskey & Fine Spirits Fest | Thu., Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. $95 Possibly one of the most dangerous drinking events of the year, Whiskey Fest brings hundreds of brown spirits and those who love them to the Linc. Sure, you can get a taste of Pappy Van Winkle, but there are loads of other intriguing sips, including Redbreast Single Pot Still 12 Year and Bastille 1789 French Whisky. The ticket price includes all the samples you can handle, as well as some very necessary snacks and an on-site Fine Wine & Good Spirits store where you can special-order your favorites. Plenty of cabs and Ubers will be on hand to shuttle the whiskied masses back to Center City after the event. Lincoln Financial Field 1 Lincoln Financial Field Way, 267-570-4000.
1st Annual Philly Bloody Mary Festival | Sun., Oct. 19, 1 p.m. $40 Beer-and-wine fests are a dime a dozen, but it’s not every day that you get a chance to taste your way through 10-plus Bloody Marys on a Sunday afternoon. The 1st Annual Philadelphia Bloody Mary Festival is paying homage to that magical hangover helper with brunch-centric snacks and tastes of next-level bloodies from Jason Cichonski’s Ela (a rye version with smoked tomato juice) and another from Bar Ferdinand that’s gazpacho-based and garnished with guindilla peppers. Farewell to George Costa | Sun., Oct. 19, 10 p.m. pay-as-you-go George Costa has been a familiar face in the Philly cocktail scene for 17 years with time behind the bars at Southwark and Pub & Kitchen. But he’s retiring from the game and pursuing his other great love, fly fishing. Petruce et al. is hosting a farewell to Costa with a late-night celebration that’s sure to be a sweet — and maybe a little sloppy — send-off. Petruce et al., 1121 Walnut St., 267-225-8232, petrucephilly.com.
