The Spirit of Gin Brunch | Sat., Nov. 15, noon, $20 For those with a constitution strong enough to handle botanical spirits and bivalves at noon, the Oyster House is hosting a brunch celebrating gin and oysters. Bluecoat distiller Michael Higgins and The Spirit of Gin author Matt Teacher are going to be on hand discussing the marriage of the pair. The $20 ticket price offers you a chance to sample a half dozen of the Oyster House’s freshest along with your choice of a barrel-aged gin and tonic, or an Aviation featuring Bluecoat gin, lemon, creme de violette and maraschino. Oyster House, 1516 Sansom St., 215-567-7683, oysterhousephilly.com.
Fundraiser for Theo Webb | Sun., Nov. 16, 3-6 p.m. $50 Theo Webb has been a beloved face behind the bar for years at places like James and Fish and most recently Brü. Last week, he was in a bicycle accident, leaving him with some serious medical bills. His friends are hosting a benefit for him on Sunday. The $50 entry fee gets you an open bar, plenty of sausage-centric snacks and a chance to get in on a silent auction, all for a very good cause. Brü, 1316 Chestnut St., 215-800-1079, bruphilly.com.
Sbraga Culinary Career Dinner | Wed., Nov. 19 $85 Many people think Kevin Sbraga was magically birthed from Top Chef Season 7. Well, before taking home that title in 2010, Sbraga had quite an illustrious resume. On Wednesday, Sbraga is taking a look at his career with a seven-course meal celebrating his past, present and future. The meal kicks off with oysters and caviar from the upcoming Juniper Commons, fried green tomatoes from the Fat Ham and fettuccine with salt pork and sage from Sbraga. The final courses come from further back — veal shank with baby vegetables from his time with Georges Perrier, tuna fried rice from the Ritz-Carlton and brioche-crusted branzino from Rat’s in Jersey. Sbraga, 440 S. Broad St., 215-735-1913, sbragadining.com.
