Concert Review/Photos: The Twilight Sad @ Boot & Saddle 2/25
With angst pouring from his every Scottish brogue syllable, James Graham filled the eyes and ears of an attentive Boot & Saddle crowd with the singular sound of The Twilight Sad.
With angst pouring from his every Scottish brogue syllable, James Graham filled the eyes and ears of an attentive Boot & Saddle crowd with the singular sound of The Twilight Sad. Basking in dark red lights, he gesticulated about the stage while recreating the band’s most recent record — 2014’s Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave — mixed in with material from their four previous LPs. Andy MacFarlane’s choice guitar chords and Mark Devine’s drums made the sound just as creepy and emotive as on vinyl.
Sweat beading on his brow, Graham had much of the crowd eating from his tortured artistic soul and with good reason; he is a commanding presence who makes you feel that you are witnessing something extra special in such intimate confines as Boot & Saddle. They are not to be missed on any future stateside visits.
Brooklyn-based indie band Port St. Willow opened — hints of Radiohead and Sigur Ros.
