Remembering John Lennon a musical genius and New Yorker
Today marks the 36th anniversary of the death of The Beatles legend John Lennon.
On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was murdered outside of his home at the Dakota building, in New York City, by gunman Mark Chapman.
Earlier that evening John had signed an album for Mark Chapman, outside the building. Lennon was on his way back home to say goodnight to their son Sean before he went to bed when he was shot outside of the building.
John Lennon loved New York City and enjoyed walking around in Central Park.
On October 9, 1985, what would have been Lennon's 45th birthday, New York Mayor Ed Koch and Lennon's widow Yoko Ono dedicated a 2.5-acre landscaped section in New York City's Central Park to Lennon naming it Strawberry Fields.
John Lennon was a musical genius and a pop icon with hits that include Instant Karma, Give Peace a Chance, Woman and Imagine.
John once said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
RIP John Lennon.
